The November Fashion Blog -- Quatrain

(Reviewed by a snooty correspondent)

November dons her coats of warm terries,
tans, a few ochres, but surely not bright.
(Except for sneaky, red-coated berries,
peeking from bushes, agrin with delight.)

November's dress: pretty dull, never shines.
We prefer October's boisterous charm.
Branches bare, it's said limbs often recline;
sunbathe to keep their tans, and also warm.

Fashion designers often grow somber
and turn November into works of art.
Choosing russet offset by burnt umber
we find those dull colors lacking in heart.

Whispers of Summer heard in fashion parks.
Soon we'll write of a new bridal-white show.
Days ending sooner, dusk now wearing darks;
Winter waits coyly; looks lovely in Snow.

I couldn't help but smile at the red - coated berries, peeking from bushes, agrin with delight. A wonderful poem and fav for me. Cheers my friend :-)

Love how you weave autumn in to fashion, it works, and so does your splendid poetry.

My birthday is in November and for a long time I didn't like my birthstone and wanted a sapphire or an emerald but now I have come to like it - this is very creative with the november coat of browns, and I love your last stanza! (winter twilight is so lovely)

Mine's in March and I never liked the word "bloodstone." :) People are funny! I once did horoscopes for people, in the misty past~but don't tell :) In retrospect, I think this was a too-weird theme. Thanks for your nice comments.

Lovely piece Ann, really good rhyme and flow with insightful thought as well. Hope all is well, its wet and miserable over here across the Atlantic. Gordon

Hi Gordon! Well, weather's beautiful but we could still use some of that wet you speak of :) Thanks for commenting and have merry, albeit wet, season.

Thank you, Suzanne! I added an explanation at top of poem so readers know it's a snob talking, not me :)

Thank you so much, Vijay! I tried to write it like I thought a snobbish columnist would write a fashion review :) I appreciate your comments!

Absolutely delightful Ann! Even though November wears shades of tan and brown, you have brought its designs to life in your fashion show! The fashion police would definitely approve! Best wishes for the contest. Hope your house repair is going smoothly! Blessings!

Thank you, Sam. I'm afraid some people won't get it. My sons are going to lay the flooring on Thanksgiving, since two need to go to work Monday. Thanks for asking. I hope your repairs are going smoothly. We'll survive, won't we :)
