The New Church

Wanting to further glorify heaven by reaching up to its lofty, great height, the Romanesque arch was changed with leaven in mind to further complete a great sight. Taking away the strength of the curved arch she could quickly cave under the pressure; her nave losing form from having gone parch, stones burying its cargo of treasure. Finally the pointed arch came to life: keystone replaced by rib and groin vaulting, buttresses outside the nave side by side, all safe inside, pressure at last halting. The cathedral taller, bringing more light. A reconfigured symbol of her might.
