As time went by, I got used to being alone; now whenever I’m with others, I can't help but feel that my life isn't actually my own. So yes, I prefer being alone; the absence of other people is by far more bearable than the absence of my own.

Hi Sara, even happily married couples need alone time. My late husband liked to play games on the computer while I would sing to the Lord for 2 hours on some days in another room. I still do this. We always had staycations but would take a few hours apart when we needed to. Another impressive poem from your soul and pen. Have a tranquil evening, poetry friend. ~

thanks for stopping by, Regina, and for sharing your personal experience with alone time. Bill & I have together and alone time everyday. Took us years to establish that. :-) I appreciate your thoughtful words...have a pleasant evening as well, Sara

Interesting idea and for certain people, this 'alone' thing works great. Not for me, certainly. ~ Social Butt Or-fly

thanks for sharing your thoughts, Gershon. The 'alone' thing hasn't (and probably still isn't) comfortable for hubby. I crave alone time (silence) so I can be creative and process my world. Bill doesn't need that. Many folks don't...and it's okay. Different strokes for different folks, right? Have a splendid evening, Sara

"The Loner" is a lovely write/picture. True many like being alone. We have a friend and she likes many people with her. It is hard to get just the 4 of us together. Have a blessed day/weekend writing away............

thanks for your visit, Paula, and for your complimentary words. I agree. Some people like being alone, and some don't. Everyone has to strike their own balance. Have a blessed weekend as well, Sara

Everything in moderation for me please. I like being both interactive and being alone. Too many people causes anxiety and isolation brings depression. Nice write, Sara.

well said, Daniel. Balance is important. I like some interaction but need alone time to stay calm and to be creative. Each to his own they say. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and beliefs. Have a splendid weekend, Sara

Hi Mike and thanks for stopping by. I'm grateful you found my poem insightful..glad to hear that you've adjusted to being 'alone.' I can be gregarious, definitely. But I also need to be alone to center myself and to be creative. Sometimes hard to strike a balance. Thanks for sharing your personal thoughts. Have a splendid evening, Sara

I'm quite happy with my own company until I'm not - a tough balance. I love wandering about on my own, more than happy to travel etc. there's a certain something from company I appreciate and I think that is acceptance. I do like a lot of space to just be. I enjoyed this poem x

thanks for the visit, Di11y, and for sharing your personal thoughts. You sound comfortable with yourself and being independent. But you said something quite profound: 'there's a certain something from company I appreciate...acceptance." I think that's true and brilliant. Thanks for sharing...and have a pleasant evening, Sara

As an introvert sometimes i find it suffocating to be surrounded by people for too long. I like my space too, but i can never live without my twin sister. I love how you’ve expressed here dear sara, to be content in ones own space alone in their own thoughts is a deep place to be and to achieve, so many struggle with that too. Pleasure always reading

thank you, dear Ink, for responding to my poem, one I was a bit hesitant to post. I'm an introvert as well...don't know how I taught for as long as I did--people, noise, and chaos all the time. You're right, to be content in one's own space is a deep place, one that some people avoid. I appreciate you sharing. Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your weekend, Sara
