The Foot of the Cross

The Cross, a signet I freely wear, no yoke around my neck, nor weight to keep me fearfully bound; a token of love, a contract of faith, my prayer for peace and prosperity, I gently hold or firmly grip, for the world gone wobbly, out of sacred round – the Cross, so easy to sign, only 5 letters to spell...though my face turned from heaven, at the vertical base, the foot of Christ’s compelling sacrifice, focus on His Risen Crown, I claw my way up from hell.

Oh, I really love this poem, it reflects the hope, faith, belief and resilience that come along when one trusts the true meaningful essence of the Cross, which is the ultimate guide towards salvation and peace.. So beautifully you've described that in your poem. I think, we should just devote ourselves to the God and not worry for the results, because they will ultimately be decided by him.. Whether heaven or hell.. But hope and belief will definitely lead us to a brighter place..

The sign of the Cross is one thing that comforts me in my afflictions. I think of the suffering that Jesus underwent. Loved reading your poem. "I claw my way up from hell"...... This made me think....! All of us live in a kind of self complacency. But however virtuous we may be, we are human and not sure if our journey will land us in hell or heaven.

Thank you, Valsa. We live in, and transverse, shadows of our own deception...let conscious be our alternative guide when light is dim and the voice of reason near silenced. Truth needs no affirmation but its presence. God is no ventriloquist nor illusionist -- we are the entire theater, all cast and audience -- let Christ be that usher at the Door.

Hi Eve; thank you. For sure, the flesh is weak...and the mind is split. The good news, God would not allow an environment that we were powerless to control. We need to exercise our Free Will wisely. Earth can be transformed to a paradise. It is up to us. But it needs all to cooperate -- doesn't seem like that will happen in the near future. Maybe another 2000 years. Blessings my friend.

Very true...good part is, I don't think God expects perfection, beyond our being human. Who Knows? Thank you, Eve.

For sure! Needing our active participation. A prayer without action, is a prayer incomplete.

Thank you, Vie, for your wise and caring support. No one will be free from hellish influence, until we all are. Our destinies are inseparable. As long as one child is being abused and suffering on earth, those tears will salt the pure streams of heaven. And we will be compelled to taste and drink of them. We take with us, not only what we did -- but all we did not do.

Hi Anne; absolutely! He showed us the way...but who will follow...and how many more thousands of years. The kingdom is in the Palm of Our hands -- and yet we go to outside palm readers: politicians whose palms are too full with green to see beyond their own greed. I am watching what is going on in Israel, listening to our conflicted leaders...and I have never heard so many hand-ringing words that actually say so little. Disgraceful! I had warned Liberal friends years ago, not to support Obama, he would bring grief to Israel -- to our nation and the world -- and I was told to shut my face -- they knew better. Blessings my friend.

The cross is a sign of our salvation. A sign of suffering to atone for the milliards of sins committed by this evil world. Blessings.

Outstanding verse, Joe! Your faith shines through out! It takes a lot of courage and faith nowadays to wear a cross to express your faith. I admire you for that - Bob H

Thank you, Robert. The Cross is inspiring for me...not as much always, those who wear one. Too many politicians and popes, perhaps, are deceivers.

oh, what a powerful and well-constructed poem, Joe. You've focused in on the Cross, the symbol of resurrection and hope. And for many, they cling to it so they can 'crawl their way up from hell.' Well said. Have a wonderful evening, Sara

Hi Sara; I think I am just above the heels, and the throbbing, often stubbed toes, at the ankles. I've been a resistant riser:) Blessings my friend.
