In silent hours till nightfall When shadows grow long before fading Heart thumps, a deep longing, a soft knocking on a door still closed Shy and introverted As if saying: if I knock too hard will I knock you over and send you away forever? I listen quietly as moon light creates lonely silhouettes on the far wall where your picture hung, a faded rectangle, bleached by evasive desires wondering who could be knocking as I have been lost for so long, to be found again is as frightening, as it is dream-like Fear to open the rusty door to a heart, starving to find you. Caught in a lullaby of moonlight louder than fear can sing Reunite me with you, hammer your imprint in me, on the bare walls of my loving soul where you still live And I hear the breathing in a once empty corridor of numbers random order, tarnished brass digits, above patterned carpeting foot worn and tattered, I have heard them all, never once stopping at mine, the one without, unassuming, invisible to most, slowly opening Near the defensive rectangled door I sit fending the creaking, of the almost lost voice that's mine. And while I search on the worn wall for fringed marks of years past, you enter. I find in your face the wrinkles of time, wondrous ripples in a soft smile And I am lost in you. *** Copyright © Chris Green and Darren White May 3, 2017

Wonderful collaboration, you two do write well together, I think I like the last stanza the best, just like Chris to end it off with his signature style, but I could be wrong, if so Darren you amaze me!

I am amazed Darren, you are like a chameleon writer, that tells me something, it's one thing to have your own style but to duplicate someone else' style, you just blew my mind!

Hahaha, if I remember correctly we wrote not so much complete stanzas, but a few lines per person. I only remember the last line is mine, will you believe that? Yeah, you can recognise signature style, but don't be fooled, he and I write so much together, that we adopt/adapt ;)

Good Afternoon Darren. Good Morning Chris. Allow me to say this is beautiful with anticipation and a pulse of the heart beating. The ending is how it should be now and forever. Congratulations to you both on your work and working together also. This was an honor to read in its entirety including the title.

Darren, you wrote the first stanza, Chris the second! Then it gets a little hazy for me! I think that this is one of your best collabs so far! Keep it up, guys! Outstanding work

Hahaha, I did indeed write the first stanza, but would you believe me if I tell you I have forgotten who exactly wrote what after that first stanza?? LOL, isn't that wonderful proof that Chris and I can write seamlessly?

My sister donated me the membership, I am so grateful :) And I agree, we blend well together! (That ends of course when Chris says "tangerine", but then again it might be me impersonating him ;) Thanks Connie!

Wow. Love the imagery of this action scene incorporated into the emotional directive of this write(rewinding the minds time) ....like a screenplay writer , actor and director all rolled into one. Sling Blade. Billy Bob Thorton.
