The Blank Page

The blank screen dares me To write where there’s nothing And produce a masterpiece Where before was only white space Now that I have written a spell Some words that are quite nostalgic We all know that I haven’t done much More than say what was obvious But isn’t that what we desire to do To print down what is before us What we see isn’t always easy to say Nor to write down in any way But can be done, when one has Nothing on the screen but emptiness That which must be filled by words Then the poet can find the will To write something powerfully Suggestive and real, a truth to be Evident in his writing towards The reality of what was once a blank page Russell Sivey

This is really, really good. I get to the point that I literally feel like I am just saying what is perfectly obvious and lose motivation. However, read your masterpiece to a person who knows no art. Their face will be as blank as the page.

Excellent Russell and so true. The writing is a beautiful creation that comes from a white blank page to start with! I really enjoyed this today :)

Some people can stare at a blank page and the mind remains blank. You're not one of those people. I'll borrow your words here: "What we see isn’t always easy to say Nor to write down in any way." That's true, but you always have a lot of good things to say, Russell.
