The Big Change

I have nothing to give but words from my heart Seems a long time since I had other resources Since you and I were together from the start Life's messengers ran their appointed courses. I remember when we first journeyed together During the early years we were deeply enthralled Held tightly to each other so strongly tethered Shared all those precious moments so-called. I close my eyes and clearly see your impish smile The key to thoughts you could not express In words — but the words came after a while - When something inside you made you confess. I remember you told me you were over me So, when you left, I sealed that part of my being Made a promise to myself you would never see How, without you, I changed from life to living. Nicely penned and I especially like the last verse, Milton. You capture the sad spirit of one who's been rejected. Congrats on your win! Best wishes, Carolyn

The heartbreak of a broken relationship in stanza three is balanced with a positive attitude about the outcome with the powerful words "How, without you, I changed from life to living". Nicely written, I was deeply touched. ~ John
