That's Not Me

Your image of me's not one I can see. The me I know and see has many flaws I do my best with life's complexities My imperfections show in my faux pas To judge someone by standards I live by How arrogant to think my way is right I often look the other way and sigh. Once I am judged by God, I'll be contrite A knight in shiny armor I am not More like a jester, some might say a fool A fool who's learned that wisdom can't be taught To those who think that they make all the rules If only I could be the one you see Unfortunately that would not be me. Hello my dearest friend. Love is blind, they say. It's nice that someone sees us in a kinder light than we see ourselves. hugs :)

What a honest introspective write. We are often our own harshest critics. Stay strong

Humble sonnet Daniel. As for me, I claim no special knowledge of my own. Everything I know is from the Creator. He gets the credit

What we see in a mirror is just an outer shell. Your true self lives in your wonderful heart and soul.

Hey Daniel, wow, that poem hits deep! It's like you crawled right into my brain! This idea of everyone having a flawed reality is something I think about a lot. I got to love the jester vs. knight part. I raise my hand, for that's me to a T! I suppose the meaning of life is to someday be the people we dream of being, but for now, this is pretty darn real. Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

Hello Daniel. We all want people to think good of us but because we are rarely the image we project around others. images change when they "see" the real us. Always great to hear your thoughts. I enjoy your friendly visits. Be well!

Gosh what a soulful last line! The more we shape for others the less relevant we are to ourselves. It's some strange dance we still all do until we don't. Nice to see you sharing your words again

Hello DD:) Really nice to see you also. How others perceive us to be, is rarely who we are. Very few of us are the same in public as we are in private. Which raises the question, if they knew the real us, would they still like us? Always a pleasure.

From womb to tomb we have this path to tread. So many fool themselves they are good. At best we're all trying and glimpsing what Good really looks like. Poignant piece, DT.

We’re all flawed, Danny and I know you well enough to know you’re not a fool. I respect you for many reasons and very glad we’re friends.
