Technology An Addiction

Technology an addiction Electricity goes out TV goes out The lights go out The addiction goes on so you grab your phone and you call someone And chat until the electricity comes on Or you watch a movie Or play games on your cell phone Or you get on poetry soup and start reading everyone’s poems and giving them feedback Like I’m doing right now. You cannot just sit still How would we Survive in the past when they had no TV, electricity or phones. Opps , I was born at that time I managed

This is totally the truth "Or you get on poetry soup and start reading everyone’s poems and giving them feedback Like I’m doing right now." Nice job!

It certainly is a different world now... WiFi was down in my house for two days... and actually it was just fine with me, although my other family members were climbing the proverbial walls. Oh, well. Different strokes for different folks... I am working on a project (unrelated to poetry) that requires concentration for long periods of time. Without WiFi, I found myself concentrating so much better and getting so much more done. Goes to show you. :) gw

Hi Eve; I've given this a lot of thought over the years, and have come to the conclusion that, people are afraid to be alone with their thoughts. They seem to need distraction, or they go mad -- modern philosophies failing the spiritual needs of humanity. Most people have a phone at their ear, or listening to music, or reading. Very few people just sitting quietly...looking happy and content. Modern meditation is far short of prayerful silence, while communing with God.

You are so very right, Joe. I never thought of it like that, but I rather be doing something then sit and think... and if nothing else I grab my rosary and pray... my thought over run and drive me crazy.

It is now part of our daily life and more so in the future. Thoughtful reflections, Eve.

Yes, we did manage way back when. It was nice in some ways. People enjoyed having company and visiting others but mostly it was a lot of hard work that the modern appliances have helped take away which is a good thing but with no electricity those appliances don't work then what would we do? Thanks for your visit to my page during the lack of electricity. Sara
