Taxing Times

I pay the tax you keep billing Although very poor I am willing Collective we are rich Alone down to the last stitch A part of this cull of one’s last shilling. Our tax is outrageous Our politicians umbrageous Like one step forward Then two steps backward Is being honest disadvantageous? An old man who lived in a windmill Way up north in the town of Churchill Was told he would have to pay The revenue man the next day Spent all night taking a part his still. © harry horsman 2011

The situation you describe is really quite sad, Harry, but the last line had me laughing out loud! Please tell the old man I'll happily store his still. :) Congratulations on your win. The competition was very strong, so take pride in your accomplishment! Love, Carolyn
