details are missing except shadows & flames drawings with colour still skip several frames I can't gaze upon faces or touch work worn hands I am not really there so I don't understand my heart sinks in reflection as remaining light lost darkness cloaks land they must row to at cost stark is the contrast of all that I feel oblivion is no answer though it has it's appeal vantage point painful no-place to dwell I hold onto my mind like a personal hell those shadows & flames co-exist in my eyes though I know it'll pass predictably as sunrise

I like the picture. It has an oriental tone. The poem is delightful in that it points to many mysterious unfinished touches. The paintings contrasts draw me. Thanks for your thoughts.

It does indeed. The suggestion is it was painted quickly with watercolours to capture the moment. The contrast is stunning.

Dear DD, Love the artwork and yr poem is so evocative and theres a softness to it and i love how you’ve maintained those short lines and i notice the rhyme pattern too which gives cadence. I especially love “ stark is the contrast of all that I feel” that hits deep! “ I hold onto my mind like a personal hell” powerful! And oh your profile pic is gorgeous! What did you dress up as! Stunning you! Pleasure visiting you today. Been a bit on insta hosting so not much on here: sending you light alwys

We just went as Day of the Dead as hadn't felt particularly inspired. I did make the headdress (well bought a very basic one and took it apart to remake with extra things) and already had the long frilly black lace dress. Thanks for the kind words x

An impression faintly touched. The word impressionistic was originally meant as an insult as traditional critics would call the works, "Not real paintings, just impressions" Rich in rhyme and lyrical, think maybe a video like the ones I've seen here maybe quite an attraction, Dilly. What a great avatar- It's the essence of a former picture of you decked out! What filter do you use? Love it, but missing Snow White, she was illuminating.

You're welcome Anaya <3. I don't think the videos would meld with my poetry - I prefer abstract x

Thanks Anaya, not sure what you mean by the video? The photo is me last night and think it's a mosaic filter. Thank you for your interesting comment, appreciated x

Had to read this one a few times Dilly to get the bigger picture of what you’re expressing here, and wow you really do interpret it perfectly, I think you really are there, or as close to being there as anyone can get, even Winslow himself, a wonderful rhyming and extremely accurate Ekphrasis, cheers David

Well if there was ever a case for the poem being in the painting, then this one is a prime example, you capture the essence rather than just expressing what you see in poetic language! so definitely has the wow factor ;)

I do love a "wow" :) I felt a bit overdramatic with the personal hell line as I was happily parked outside my daughter's singing lesson contemplating a black forest hot chocolate haha. It's a captivating watercolour though. It's funny when lines like work worn hands pop into my head out of nowhere - I'm convinced the poems are in the paint all along. Thanks for the vote of confidence, I wasn't 100% about this one.
