Sunset
I've taken to cuddling up with the children
In the garden hammock at twilight
To watch the bats come out
It's a great way to get them to chat
We appear as the sun's setting
Make ourselves comfortable
Typically they need to trump
As soon as I'm unable to escape
We watched the sunset reflected last night
So it was framed in the kitchen window
We noted several spiders in webs
In the shrubs watching too, peacefully
The sunset is a backdrop to the clouds
It looks like the beginning of a painting
Waiting for the scene to be filled in
As we wait for orange to turn blue/grey
It feels quick and we play daft games
Recently it's 'what is this name short for'
Question: "is Bob short for Bobbert?"
Me: "erm no" cue laughter and a trump
The other night the sunset sat in the background
To a conversation about Kathy
I said "the Kathy we know"
She thought that was the full name*
*we cried laughing for 20 minutes, the spiders in webs probably furious at the interruption.
Us, unawares, being painted into that days sunset
(My friend is called Aikaterini)
