Sunlight

The sun has been a no show for the most of several months. He peeks out a bit to cheer us then clouds come almost at once. We’re worried about the pretty flowers that should be coming through. Without the sun’s encouragement there will be very few. We’re taking tons of Vitamin D to protect from fragile bones. It’s sunlight in a small bottle. We only hope that it atones For the lack of springtime sunshine and old winter’s over-stay. Neither my plants nor I will prosper if the sunlight stays away. Won 4th place

You are in WA, right? I remember feeling depressed most of the time living there with all that rain. (could have had to do with my mom having to leave my dad) but anyway, the sun became very important to me and years later, when I came to Utah, I turned into a sun worshipper! This is a very nice one. A big congrats for your big win.

Please send some of those clouds to the "Sunshine State," Joyce. We have far too much of it and our skin cancer rate is too high. I like the comparison of Vitamin D to "sunlight in a small bottle." Very good poem and I hope the clouds evaporate so you can enjoy the spring weather. Best wishes in the contest! Love, Carolyn
