Storytime At the Library
except for one boy
the storytime excitement
but I catch his eyes
away from the group
he sits next to his teacher
and I don’t know why
I leap eye to eye
as we sing and read fun books
yet he’s my project
now he’s in my reach
a smile creeps as he joins us —
my heart sighs loudly
