Stormy Departure
You chose to leave early that day,
work in town a few miles away.
Storm clouds gathered giving me pause,
a day trip flaunting Nature’s Laws.
Rain fell for days–dark, dread, and stout.
It veiled roads, no passable route.
I missed you and furrowed my brow
I wanted you beside me now.
I smiled when the bright sun came out.
The winds and rains had lost their clout.
Roads clear, at last I will see you.
Happy reunion would ensue.
Traveling once banned, became allowed.
Then there you appeared, standing proud.
You had weathered the storm safely,
Ever glad for your safety.
