You'll never know This lonely hole Where cold winds blow My worthless soul Or never hear These falling tears The silent cheers When death comes near Fortunately To some degree You'll never see The pain in me These things I feel Try to conceal They will not heal But they are real Daniel Turner

Sharon, there are times when I am the only person on earth. It is a lonely place and death wants to be my friend. I struggle! I know there are others who feel the same at times. It is a wretched feeling. Thank you for dropping by and making an old man smile:)

Writing poetry is such a healing thing in itself. I read so many things here in which people reveal so much depth of feeling and emotion. This one is like that. Writing poetry should be a part of any therapy.

Thank you, Beverly. It does help some to express those feelings but it doesn't make them go away. I appreciate your time and insightful comments. Thanks for leaving a smile:)

I tried once to describe to my daughter how much depression hurt. It hurt her so much to listen, I bit my tongue. So many poets I find have experienced similar troubled times. Even to know someone understands helps. I will have to put my funny hat on again.

Yes, but very few know and if they do they usually don't like to talk about it. Thank you for understanding and being a friend.

Yea, if life gets too sweet, I know I'm about to take a tumble. Thanks for your support, Jerry.

No one knows what is held behind the face we wear. No one else knows the pain, the fears, the heartache of the tears we may hold inside. Too often, one can feel terribly alone while the whole world seems not to notice, too busy or too crazy to care. By reaching out with our poetry, perhaps someone else will hear ......at least this one time. God Bless !

I have lived this. You wrote of it very well, I know the feel of each line you conveyed. I wish I had an answer other than time and landing a perspective that heals. I love your poem for its poem's sake and offer you blinders that you do not stare into the past. We must, in my opinion, all seek to live in the NOW ... CayCay
