Stairway At 48 Rue De Lille, Paris Edward Hopper
Inspired by the 1906 painting by Edward Hopper of an ornate stairway in Paris
Mouth agape, stood still in place
Embroiled in the elegance of this ornate space
Felt through all senses, not just sight
Standing breathless from ascending flight after flight
Each twist of the bannister, felt smooth in hand
Curvature caressed in order to understand
Solidity and wisdom beneath the feet
Yielding a soulful, rhythmic beat
Journey up is just part of the plan
Sensation explosion for the artisan
Acceptance here ignites the muse
New light and shade to take, infuse
An artistic soul beguiled by those
That should I meet, self must compose
The door atop contains days end
A meeting to help pursuits transcend
A held breath, to hold the view
To finally reach all one could pursue
Through the closed door, on the other side
All artistic knowledge, will be amplified
So pause, absorb all there is to feel
Knowing, relishing, that this is real
