Staircase
She hesitated before descending the steps
Tears had already welled up in her eyes
As a feeling of sadness enveloped her
Her mood was colored indigo,
She was leaving her childhood home,
Going off to a distant college;
She stood there, frozen, as memories flooded in,
The birthday parties, her prom, pillow fights....
She whispered a tearful goodbye,
Then, ran out the door
