Spring Is Not All

Sky is clear blue with bales of cotton cloud
Days mesh well with scenes of vernal beauty
Everywhere one can spot the jaunty crowd
People are busy chasing their duty

Oh, Spring! You make us blissfully merry
When you fill earth with joyous songs and sound
But you give umpteen reasons to worry
With dust and disease making our hearts pound

Spring is not all of color and beauty
Like all seasons, it has its bane and bliss
Weeding one's garden turns a dull duty
Mosquitoes swarm round with sonorous hiss

Spring! Though you are greeted warm as a king
With wind and sun, sometimes we feel your sting

"Spring! Though you are greeted warm as a king With wind and sun, sometimes we feel your sting" - the other aspect of spring is very beautifully brought out. Congratulations!

: ). Indeed it reminds one of new life coming to be, but then the allergies, rainy days, starting up the lawn mower hoping it works , removing of the weeds that spring up from no where: ). Grab a hold and cherish each seasons beauty one day at a time

The devil puts flies in all of natures beautiful ointments. Someday we will have a paradise here. I keep faith. "Weeding one's garden turns a dull duty Mosquitoes swarm round with sonorous hiss" -- Outstanding imagery!

You described the plus and minus of Spring. Every season has something good or bad. Best for a win.

Lovely ode to spring--despite the unpleasant vibes it brings amid its adorable blooming beauty. Aptly delivered for the contest theme. Best to you, Valsa.

Well written sonnet Valsa, you're right though, spring can be wet and muddy, I love it when it moves into the summer season. Hope you're having a lovely weekend. Good luck. Tom
