Dear Andrea, This is such a lovely picture you painted here. I can see those Southern Belles in their immaculately groomed elegance so clearly. Enjoyed.

Andrea, this reminds me of an impressionist painting by a French master! You have done something incredibly sweet. Smiling!

Lovely read! Some years ago, my wife Ila was very good at sewing, in fact, often did costume designing for her schools when they produced shows, she taught art and music -- one year she made, from scratch about 5 fancy bonnets for my daughter and her girlfriends to wear to the Kentucky Derby -- all decked out at a restaurant, drinking Mint Juleps, they were toast of the town. You brought back memories.

So glamorous but that was not really the way it was most of the time. There was a lot of hard work to be done to keep the family going. Nicely done for the contest though. Reads like a good contender to me. Way to go. Sara K

this has to do with "society" bells who have the big coming out balls and are so rich. No, they are nothing like the majority of true southern belles!!

Sweet! I saw it all in my head. Great write... Andrea. Wish I were a belle. I could even do the southern drawl for ya. I'm good at doing accents. Good luck in the contest.

the only accent I can kind of mimic is the southern drawl!
