Song For the Average
Song for the Average
Just average is not a bad place to be;
Average IQ, average car, clothes, lack,
It’s like armour against the aboves who
With nothing to fear, do not oft attack.
An “average” one may humble himself;
Or reach for the stars in spite of one’s self.
Without pride, knowing his “average” fate,
Free to enjoy those of high or low rate.
On reflection I think I’d rather be
Able to accept imperfectly me;
Than a troubled high above, never free,
But who gives so much to the souls he sees.
I will enjoy beauty, deep poetry,
And so enriched and loved we may all be.
