When imagination soars,
and fills our hearts with wonder,
we follow, high over a star filled universe
We fall into that half forgotten, chamber where
leaf-entwined our memory speaks to us
in a small voice that only we can hear.
It whispers of all these shining things,
a mermaid’s flashing tail, her rainbow fins,
a fairies wings, stitched by gossamer to autumn winds.
We sense the mystery of why they’re laid away
Even the most ordinary is welcomed
against a poet’s biggest fear -
to search this darkened place-
and find- nothing here.
