Your middle couplet reminds me of the song "I Am a Rock" by Simon and Garfunkel. I have felt this way many times in my life, but love will always find you when the time is right.

I’ll take any relationship with Paul Simon - he’s (I started to say “was”) a GREAT songwriter. His song about taking a bus across America crushes me.
