Sky of Fireflies

As twilight seeps into darkening night,
myriad beetles with tiny wings
like those of fairies start to flit
around as if they carry
miniature lanterns
on their small bodies.
Their bright lights keep
flickering
on and
off.
Soon
the stars
appear and
show their shimmer.
Magic fills the night
as the fairy insects
mimic the sparkling stars with
sprinkles of their small twinkling lights.
On summer grass, I twirl in moon glow,
dancing underneath a sky of fireflies.
