Silence and Happiness

It snowed lightly last night. I venture into the woods, hear the silence reigning supreme. Mutely a light breeze weaved its way amongst the moss-covered trunks, the high branches swinging serenely, the verdant leaves of evergreen trees. Occasionally a snowflake fluttered down onto the white path that winded its way across the solitary forest. I felt peace in silence despite the cold that griped my arthritic old bones. A few tears of happiness bleared from my sight. The mist lifted like a silken veil, all around shone in utter splendor: a masterpiece of an ethereal painting of some great master of olden times. I felt your presence everywhere, O Lord, I was exhilarated as a bird on the wing, elated and consoled in utter harmony with nature's song of praise, a heavenly sigh to its Creator.

How serenely and imaginatively do you describe your wondrous walk in the woods, and how miraculously do you describe your closeness to your Creator as you become one with nature. Beautiful write Victor. Blessings, Jennifer.

A delightful read as I actually hear Carolina birds singing their morning glory song! This is so refreshing and especially since our heat index was 105! Love that this poem takes place in winter and in animals including humans and natures flowers. Thanks for sharing Victor!

There's peace in silence and that walk of calm and happiness. The smell and the feeling of being in the forest should be soothing. Next time get a double fur jacket so you don't feel too cold.

Your poem dear Victor I found drew me in straight away as the scene was set with beautiful, vivid imagery of the snow and trees. ‘ The mist lifted like a silken veil’ ‘ I was exhilarated as a bird on the wing’ ‘ with nature’s song of praise’ divine lines. I love the last line especially. Such a wonderful poem of awareness and gratitude dear friend. Loved it. Thank you for sharing. Hugs and smiles :)

In silence and seclusion, we feel the presence of the almighty, and find serenity, i love how descriptive your imagery is , and how it flows in such a beautiful rhythm, especially love the lines “ I felt peace in silence despite the cold that griped my arthritic old bones.” tht is so evocative! What a soulfully divine poem! Pleasure always reading your work. Sending you light

I am guessing that this happened at some point in your life when you lived in a different place or is it just imagination. I don't think it snows on islands like Malta but of course, I could be wrong. I enjoyed reading it and thinking how nice that walk would have been minus the cold and snow. Thanks for sharing it with us and for visiting my page. Sara K

The quieter it becomes, the more one hears...now I know the meaning of a word-drop...and the ripple voice of eternal sea. Well said, Victor. Captivating poem.
