She Still Sings
Cute Sweety danced within the cage,
my lovebird parrot since long gone.
I remember her curved crimson beak sleek
mounted on slim silky emerald body sheen.
An articulated human speech expert,
she sang songs for me when I asked.
Neck bent, in sharp voice said “thank you”
each time I gave her fruit, carrot and nut.
Perched proud on my shoulder,
she liked to softly peck my ear.
She was the only pet I had, I adored her,
enjoyed avian friendship for a long while.
The mute cage is now empty,
but Sweety still sings in my heart, I hear.
