She Shed Her Wings

Storm clouds hold her captive in their embrace, drifting through the fabric of time and space. For swaddled in an ebony cocoon, she can't shed her wings till the next full moon. Her beauty emphasizes her sad state, a creature of feelings; she chose her fate. And defiant to the bitter-sweet end, she remained rigid, refusing to bend. She'd fallen in love with a mortal man, and so, her descent from heaven began. For angels have to be above such things or give up their precious heavenly wings. She should not have let this affair begin, to return his love was a grievous sin. But, her heart's desire would not be denied, and love became impossible to hide. Weighing her wings and immortality, her passion overrode reality. And she shed her wings, for a human heart despite the fact, it's tearing her apart. (Rhyme) 8/20/2017

Beautiful, I love the fairy tales of angels and mermaids, a great metaphor for everything we need to give up during our life. Good luck in the contest.
