Notes About The Poem

Self Actualization

Seeing an ever growing list of my poems
Each and every one is so special to me
Learning to write poetry has been wonderful
Forming my first poem was a form of stress relief

All my musings come from an often crazy idea!
Challenging myself with new forms is therapeutic
Time for me to try and become a perfectionist -
Using my newfound skills to write a proper haiku!
At first I would get an idea and suffer from insomnia
Lately I am able to keep my muse under control!!
I secretly hope to be part of the poetry glitterati
Zealously I can now write with style and pizzazz!
Amazingly in November I will recite poems at a gala
There on the theatre stage I will be in the spotlight -
I may surreptitiously wave to my friends to say hi!
Oh my self-confidence will reach a crescendo
Now I’ll confess writing has become my passion!

Congrats Jan what an accomplishment! I tried a few times to do this one, but I think I broke my brain! You have come a long way. Hope your recital goes well. Mine was fun with about 600 people, nerve wracking but fun.

The first time I stood on a stage was at a church memorial service in 2014 and I read the 2 poems I'd written for brothers Jacques and Torin who had died so tragically - I shook like a leaf it was so traumatic. I then was part of another charity review in May this year and now the grand finale is at the Gaiety theatre! :-) hugs jan xx

Oh Jean you are too kind my friend... I guess I am just lucky that my husband's cancer surgery kick started me into writing. I am amazed at how much I love it and how far I have come in less than 3 years:-) this was a real challenge to write and it took time but I'm happy with the poem and hope San likes it:-) The first event I was in in May was in front of an audience of about 150 people - this next one is at the Gaiety Theater and the capacity is about 800 if sold out -and I've never stood on a real stage before.... no pressure lol I will be like a quivering jelly on the night!!!!:-) hugs Jan xx

Thanks so much Maurice it is my first attempt at this form and it took quite a while to write but it was worth the hard work. I can't believe how much I have learned since I wrote my first poem on 11/24/13 and joined soup in Feb 2014:-):-) The best thing I ever did was pick up my pen and write on the day my hubby had his cancer surgery:-) hugs Jan xx
