Notes About The Poem

Love is the flower you’ve got to let grow.”

- John Lennon

Written 9th July, 2026 for a contest I missed. Sometimes my thoughts are too slow.

Secrets of the Soul

I search and find deep within,
Written verses in ash of how we began,
I console, I try to make change,
Everything has been preordained.

No matter how hard I try,
I'm trapped in your pulse ,
Nothing else feels real,
There is turmoil in my soul.

Trapped within these walls,
I am the asylum of your ache,
Pain rips my inner being,
I have no place to go.

Now as time restarts its flow,
I taste your truth you've hidden well,
I see your pulse is faulting,
Our time is nearly in the past.

Where orchids dream, I'm found,
Creating a new reality,
Writing a new verse in the ash,
Where we both go free.

This is so touching and beautiful dear Alison, the flow is seamless and has this evocative soulfulness that made me feel alot. I especially love "Trapped within these walls, I am the asylum of your ache, Pain rips my inner being, I have no place to go." Whoa! That hits deep! In a very poetic manner! Your use of the prompts are exquisite! Thank you for sharing this ~ I wish it was entered but yes time can be challenging. However It made m happy reading such an authentic emotive one for my prompts. Sending you light today and always ~

Alison, your poem is so vivid and descriptive. It's interesting how we reflect our own qualities onto others around us. Well said!

"writing a new verse in the ash" WOW! this is so beautifully soulful and heartfelt, my dear Alison.. you've such a golden touch with words that makes the readers feel all the immersive emotions that you pour in each line.. sometimes, fate has other plans.. an in their presence we only face turmoil.. letting go is the only way moving forward that can heal the pain.. so movingly written for the prompts.. pleasure reading this. Sending you light and best wishes always ~ a fave

I don't understand the pinned thing. I see something resembling a pin on this one. Did you put it to the top somehow so it would get more views? I have a poem like that hardly anyone saw. I need to learn how to pin it if it means putting it to the top!

Beside your poems is a blue pin. If you click on that it puts your poem at top. You can pin more than one.
