Sly low tide sneaks up to smooch the smooth shore that holds old footsteps left behind us and lends itself to sand castles standing guard until high tide plovers dart on fleet feet across sodden sands spindle-legged girls hunt conch shells — starfish found! Blue waters glistening aqua appeal — white horse sea-magic spindrift manes rise from crests awakened from lowest ebb high tide arrives on thunder hooves body-surf Neptune’s steeds to the shore wet beige hair dries to sun-bleached beachy waves…

Dear Sweet susan, your seastrand is vibrant with life and charming with an all pervading beauty where waves and sea creatures dance in harmony. Your alliterations enhance the beauty of your etheree. It also evokes memories of the footsteps left behind and the castles built in sand. You describe beautifully the change of the sea from low tide to high tide as the sea is not constant. "high tide arrives on thunder hooves body-surf Neptune’s steeds to the shore wet beige hair dries to sun-bleached beachy waves…" beautiful concluding lines... of sea horses drying their mane of wet beige hair. Beautiful word pictures.

This is clever in the way the rhytm imitates crashing waves. I remember California tidal pools that were alive with life in t he same way. Thank you for taking me back to the ocean.

The shore came alive in my room as I read this Susan. Lines upon the sand brought to life by the ebbing and flowing of your etheree. Top drawer writing from a top drawer poet. Cheers - Gary

Frederic, dear friend, dear poet, I have lived on the southeastern coast of Mass my whole life, I can't ever imagine living anywhere else. This poem reflects my lifelong love of the seashore. My friends and I were the spindle-legged girls collecting shells and body surfing with sun-bleached hair. My husband and I leave our footprints behind in the sand every time we walk the shore in wonder of its song, power and beauty. Thank you for sharing in the imagery and "sand-filled joy" with me. I hope you enjoy your time at the shore, my dear friend. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Dear Susan, pure shoreline magic filled with life and memory. I love how you capture the playful dance of tides and creatures, turning the beach into a living story. Your words move like waves, gentle and wild all at once, and I can almost feel the salt air and sun in your lines. A seaside wonder and your poetry always leaves me smiling. Spring Blessings, My Dear Susan, Daniel

Indeed, I am endlessly inspired by the Atlantic's moods, movements and beauty.. sometimes lamb-like, other times demonic. I enjoy the ocean in all her kindness and ferocity! Aw, that's wonderful for you and your wife, Tom. I remember that photo, but went to see it again, it truly is a beautiful place. Enjoy your time by the water's edge.. there's nothing more gratifying to me than being on the shore at the ocean's edge... the wonderment of it all... it's where I feel closest to God

My wife and I began wintering on the Gulf side this past year, five minutes from Sunset beach. It's a quaint little beach, not too crowded generally. The photo on my poem Sunset Silhouette was taken there. I'm glad you have such nice memories from childhood on into present. Happy life

Dear Tom, yes, growing up on the Atlantic coast has given me a huge love and appreciation for the ocean and all its movements and moods. I could never live anywhere else but nestled in my seaside community in southeastern Massachusetts where the freedom of open air, sand dunes and waves are mere moments away.. my friends and I were the "spindle-legged girls" collecting shells, I was the teen body surfing huge waves with sun-bleached hair. My summers went spent at the beach with my beloved dad and my friends. Such cherished memories. My husband and I walk the shore and it always fills me with wonder. So glad you enjoyed my poem! Thank you for your lovely thoughts. Warmest wishes, my poet friend.. ~Suze
