Seagull
She sat on the lamppost in front of me
I sat on a bench in front of the sea
I broke a piece of my bun and threw it to her
She swooped down with an eye on me.
Picked up the piece and flew up
Flapping her wings, and perched on a rooftop.
Next I saw her on the rooftop opposite my balcony
Suddenly I saw two small gulls, flapping their wings
Their mother was feeding them I could see,
From then on I would leave bits and pieces
On my sea facing balcony, hiding behind my door to see
She would take my offering and feed her babies,
what an amazing feeling seeped all over me.
One day I awoke with seagulls calling out
I went to my balcony to see
They were flying low over the sea
I couldn’t believe what I was seeing
There were dolphins playing in the sea
At that instant we were all one
The seagulls, the dolphins the deep blue sea and me
What a beautiful gift she had shared
It helped awaken the poet in me.
