Sad Christmas

His mother just passed He didn’t know how he’d go on She’d been his everything Most loyal friend he ever had The love she had for him She always said undying But here she was gone He never felt more alone Immune to sounds and Christmas lights All sparkle gone Submitted on December 11, 2018 for contest 'A SAD CHRISTMAS' - DECEMBER 2018 WRITING CHALLENGE sponsored by DEAR HEART - RANKED 2ND

Oh, all these sad poems at Christmas for the contest have bruised my 'empathy button' - it keeps getting pushed over and over. Of course, I could stop reading them, go seek out funny limericks! Your write is also sad and heart tugging, oh where are Jan's limericks - I best go find some. All the best to you ... CayCay

The gravity of this poem is heavy as it should be. The power of these words left me sad too. Whether this story is true or not you made me feel it was. At that moment you took me away from my desk here at work to that living room in front of that tree and feeling his pain. So in reality the power of your words changed my reality for a moment. Your words were so strong that here moments later I am still suffering with this fellow. Great Job Miss Line

Thank you so much for your lovely visit and comment, Timothy. The reality of children losing their mothers is all too real unfortunately.

So true that many suffer hardships during the holidays and we tend to forget about those poor individuals. Not everyone is happy...

very sad, indeed, and even sadder to know that many people are living with this circumstance in their lives.

Emotions run high at Christmastime, expectations of great joy but sometimes bereavement strikes and brings down a dark cloud and all the glitter and joy becomes submerged in tears and sadness. Well written line. Tom.
