Negatives - no distance or angle, reveals substance of the female, when projection of self pauses. Still image, no movement - luminance lost, no colour or life until viewed. Pensive, closed and defensive, tense and drawn in, settled - unsettled again. "Seated Woman, Umbrella" defined and labeled, seeking table, conversation enabled. As I flit in and out of view, a Schrödinger study - temporarily drawn as charcoal, inked to remain an outline. Equate me, bind with my blackness, let me stain you, gift me existence. As we tumble into infinity marred by the burnt offerings of the impressions we make awareness of time creeping black blending smudging essence seeping pour me into the gaps to create your definition a little of me, maketh the man.

Have you become one with this painting? Or do we find out when the box is opened? Sleep well have to wait tonight. This is an interesting poem.

I always do for the period of writing then once I post it I stand outside of the box like everyone else :) I think that's why poetry is interesting, you suddenly get to observe what you were thinking from a reasonable distance away rather than inside (which is more like a busy road I think) thanks for your fun comment x

This is a perfect example of less being more. It's well defined to the eye of an artist (painter, poet) who sees the whole of it through his/her perception. Life in black and white allows one to color inside or outside the lines... if that makes sense to you. I see what others may not in a thousand different scenarios to a thousand different people. Who is she... where is she, and how I'd love to see her eyes.

It's amazing how just charcoal and ink can convey beauty. I adore the lesson from art that not everyone likes the same thing but it doesn't have to devalue the art or the viewer. We are each to their own. I got work of the week a couple of times in 1988 (a painting of a daffodil and a pencil drawing of a football boot) but I peaked there haha. I should maybe try again... A painting certainly captures beyond merely an image. Thank you for stopping by, appreciated :)

I remember as a kid long before the camera phone became omnipresent, I was always fascinated and more interested in the negatives than the photos, you paint a beautiful noir negative reality into this interpretation, perhaps a (Braille mirror) reflection of the world, Schrödinger even gets a mention, he liked to tease our mind with different realities, a beautifully written intelligent piece of work, cheers David

It's bizarre how something more meaningful is often captured when you can't fully make out an image. Glad you hooked onto the negative I presented (I can never tell when I'm too abstract with my poems, although I think you are one of the few that pieces it together regardless of my skill). I suppose it does follow a similar line to the braille mirror - all that is occurring, obscured apart from those that can feel/sense it. Do I really exist if no one sees me? Am I already dead in the box with only my energy trying to piece the rest together? I'm not, I've just spent too much booking a couple of almost consecutive holidays... Thanks for your thoughtful comment

Dear Dilly, What an in depth critique here, "pour me into the gaps to create your definition", "reveals substance of the female when projection of self pauses". The wealth of your words here have "gifted" her an existence. Excellent poem.
