Today I hurt the man I love As only I can For I know his vulnerability Where he bleeds the most I saw the pain I created And I savored it I hurt the man who covered me from the rain, Who lifted me from the pavement when I couldn't walk, Who allowed me into his heart, and life, and home, Who said, "All that is mine is yours" Who is brave, and noble, and honorable Who, even wounded, loves me still And I have no clever couplet, no pithy rhyme, To save me, or excuse me, or redeem me There is only the contaminated demon in my mirror To exorcise.

I know this feeling. A raw nerve gets poked, I lash out, the next day the perspective sinks in and the hurt caused by my lashing out is exposed. There is no excuse, just regret. Perfect title for this.

Congratulations on your win with this insightful poem... emotionally touching as we all have experienced the action although I wouldn't want to guess how many of us self-review their actions. Refreshing really that there was no blame here, just accountability. A profound write.

Congratulations on your win in my contest. Your take on the theme - as the contaminator - sticks out. Honest and cleansing. Kai

Hello Michelle,If this really happened you must have had a good reason. Yet I think it is just a poem. But Ido feel your pain. have a nice day my friend.
