I'm beside myself In a haze that some call 'rose tinted' In a phase that others call 'seeing red' In the photographers dark room, just looking over everything, nothing yet developed fully Too much is spoiling as light floods in I wanted to have it all figured out I wanted to have given it all time Of course we're smiling and it's the day I bought flowers And there's a click, click, click of untaken photographs They are in a dark room too I'd spoil them if I could I did try and flood them with light Please don't look to me to describe the corners and edges I just want to breathe in and out Try and spot some solid ground But there's none Just scene after scene of disorder That I see through a distorted lens It can only be my fault I'm writing the descriptions on the back Not making sense of it And I'm so very sorry That's my last line.

A Brilliant interpretational piece from you Dilly, love the idea of the red light imagery in the dark room, exposing many hidden layers not all at once, but gradually bringing them into existence, at the same time wanting to destroy them by flooding the room with light, another masterclass seen through your very own lens and unique perspective, outstanding, cheers David

Very much 'inspired by' than necessarily close to the mark (Marc!) on this one but I loved the ideas that transpired as I spent time with the painting. Thank you for your use of the words 'brilliant', 'masterclass' and 'outstanding' - I'll try not to let the high praise go to my head but clearly I can't deny the truth in your words haha :D

Wow am i imagining things or is she holding a camera in the artwork? And then i see your wordplay that fits “ untaken photograph” with “ distorted lens “ and so much more in such a deeply moving powerful manner! I love this! And im really in awe of how you find these artists. This line “ Please don't look to me to describe the corners and edges” will stay in my mind for a long time! Felt this poem and very well interpreted! I saw one artwork of this artist which i liked called “ bride with a fan” so much to admire . Pleasure reading this, sending you light

I have to say I just let my imagination run on this one. It did look like a camera but it feels possibly unlikely - I went with it though :) Marc Chagall is superb - so much going on and you should view his work for the colour blue alone - beautiful! Thank you for your kind assessment, appreciated x

She does look like she is beside herself, her one dimensional self. Have you noticed he likes animals in his paintings. Something about her, I can relate to, maybe seeing red, hah. You really breathed life into chagalls painting.

I just needed it to be what I needed it to be in the moment. Couldn't actually find an analysis of the painting at the time of writing - so I've used poetic licence :)

D there is a man behind her! Chagall & his wife! I love that about you, I'm familiarizing myself with his paintings and now I see how he does include himself & wife. The painter of love and life. I'm watching..Marc Chagall: A collection of 227 works.

There are goats, horses and cockerels featured frequently, the moon and flowers too - yet for some reason the paintings are different each time. I think viewing on different days could bring out a different narrative too. It's hard to say what makes his paintings so compelling, certainly the use of colour, but I think something of the full story being in the painting - it's more like looking at a flick book than one scene. Thank you for your comment, appreciated x
