Rapture

The gentleness of rapture Held on a breath - unexpected Transcendence within a single moment Then snap - the world turns again You bring me beauty As the essence of you lingers Memory of you scatters And I chase it in fields of daisies Always in summer sun Alone on a beach as my hair tangles in the wind Within a song I find you My hand isn't empty As I sit in silence For I was there that day And felt the world stop turning

I love how you've expressed the transience of a precious sweet moment in your poem. the song, the silence and the remembrance are part of the sweetness. J :)

The search for transcendence, the brief experience of it in the moment is what makes life bearable and gives hope for meaning. Yr poem raised these thoughts in my mind....an enfaging read DD

Thank you Paul - it really does create pivotal moments that are rarely a moment of much to report sometimes. Often it is someone understanding you and the world drops away for a moment. Thank you for your comment

I enjoyed reading this. In the past it only happened (work wise) when I discovered something new and could make it work. It happens on an ongoing basis when I spend time with the wife. I try to capture a wonderful feeling as much as possible by focusing on the positive. Your poem got me thinking about all of this.

Glad it brought to mind some positive feelings. It is lovely to be cast away in a moment
