The Poet Prophet
"I decided that it was not wisdom that enabled poets to write their poetry, but a kind of instinct or inspiration, such as you find in seers and prophets who deliver all their sublime messages without knowing in the least what they mean."
~ Socrates
To me, a poet's a seer,
Bringing down God's own message,
Though to him, it may be unclear,
The future's shaped on his page,
Sometimes his cry will not be heard,
Some people may mock at him,
Sometimes none will believe his word,
But he's inspired not by whim,
A poet is a prophet rare,
Heed him when he writes rightly,
A note to all poets out there,
Do not take your job lightly.
