Promise, I Do
I am the promise of I DO
a declaration, a vow made by two
to stay together their whole lives through
to meet life's struggles, great or few.
And yet, how often vows do die
upon the altar of selfish "I"
instead of two, who fail to try
to work things out, their love revive.
I DO made before God and man
is sacred, important to understand
I DO is more than "maybe I can"
it binds two hearts to meet life's demands.
I am the promise of I DO
a solemn vow that is made by two.
