Precious

He held her little soft chubby hand in his As they walked along the waters edge in the sand She chatted and giggled continuously As they strolled hand in hand The ocean was crystal clear It shimmered in the suns gentle rays Activities and sounds of enjoyment abound On this perfect summers day He intently watched this precious little being As she happily played with her bucket and spade Making a sandcastle with water and shells Oblivious to all, entranced in her sandcastle crusade His heavy heart ached as he watched her play Never had he felt so unsure and alone How can he tell this happy precious little being That mummy has gone to heaven and won’t be coming home

The delima of having to do the impossible, the best we can. Lives will be changes forever. Thanks for sharing this soulful poem, Deb. They're some things that none of us should ever have to do, but they're reasons for all that happens in our lives. Smiles and Blessings, my Aussie friend. Bill p.s. glad to see you're back posting!

Dear Deb, You beautifully capture the bittersweet moments of love and loss. The imagery of the ocean's serenity juxtaposed with the heaviness of the narrator's heart is deeply moving. Your ability to evoke emotion and depict childhood innocence is truly powerful. Such a heartfelt piece. - Blessings, Daniel

The emotional struggle of a father trying to cope with the loss of his partner while taking care of their young child is so well depicted. It's a bittersweet experience of trying to create new happy memories with their child while dealing with the pain of their partner's absence.
