Poems That Take My Breath Away
writing fulfills a deep need in me
it nurtures my heart, spirit, and soul_
the urge to pen my innermost thoughts is a pull
for I love to share a memory with you
and move you to tears with the sadness of my life
all my poems are true stories nothing is fiction
and I write poetry to embrace the power of words
it is my letter to the world, my legacy . . .
sadly, the words never wash away my own sorrow
but perhaps will help another
to show them that they are not alone . . .
I write of nature also because it is beautiful
and I wish to share my journey through poems . . .
I write for me first always trying to get better
and should a contest sponsor like my poem and place it
I am thrilled and honored . . .
but, should they reject it, well, I brush myself off and go on
for I write poems that take MY breath away . . .
yes, true, all my poems once written are like my children
and I will protect them and love them even if flawed_
