He sits on the front stoop watches life passing by Though there’s some pleasure in that it’s combined with much pain Knowing he’ll never be able to walk upright again

Pleasure and pain are two sides of life. We have to pass through both. As we grow old, our faculties wane. Those who could skip and jump may not be able to stand upright in old age. In your poem, the change of life is presented in clear concise form.
