A placebo and panacea, hope, numbs the pain it can't take away. But anxieties quickly return when subjected to the games you play. Love's magic is indisputable; but only if it was meant to be. For lodged deep in my heart like a stone, doubt's massive weight's slowly crushing me. Dreams and fantasies start to erode, exposed to lies and corrosive fears. And passion's flickering flame dies, doused by a deluge of bitter tears. I'm tired of donning a phony smile, to mask my perpetual sadness. And although there's no instant relief; time vows to take me past this madness. (Quatrain) 6/8/2015

Yes indeed Emile, sometimes love simply dies (for various reasons) and I have not seen it described any better than in this dark and moody gem...The first two lines of verse four are my favorites and really hit home personally...As they say, 'been there, done that' - Tim
