Parking Lot Boogie

I’m so sad mom
That I’m missing the chance
To be with you on your birthday
and to watch you dance

Yet your spirit I admire
You’ll celebrate with style
With friends in a parking lot
You’ll boogie for a while

Enjoy your special night
even if it’s a bit chilly
Let others ponder
the magic of being silly

You are so amazing
the youngest eighty I know
The music stills moves you
Whether it’s fast or slow

So open all the windows
of your shiny Ford Escape
Fly to the sound of the Radio
my hero without a cape

May the night skies twinkle
to the sound of the beat
and the pavement marvel
at the movement of your feet

For you my dear mom
are a one of a kind
and I’ll be there dancing with you
Even though it’s just in my mind.

I love you mom
Happy Eightieth Birthday!
May 18th, 2020

I also want to do a shoutout to my friend Eileen Manassian who shares the same birthday as my mom. I hope you have an amazing day Eileen. My friends, please drop by and wish Eileen a Happy Happy Birthday! The added bonus is that you will get to read her amazing poetry.

This is a wonderful poem. I can see your mom dancing away. I loved your line that reads "My hero without a cape" Mine was as well. Your love for your mother shines through your words. I met my husband when I went out dancing with my mother. Our moms would have enjoyed each other's company. I would have loved to have met yours, I sure did love this poem, so happy to have found it.

She was. She passed away the day after Mother’s Day this year. Just before her 81st Birthday. I’m thankful I was home for Mother’s Day.

wow, your mom must be so cool. My mom was actually going to church dances in her 70's but now with her balance issues, she can' t do stuff like that any more. She used to take all these walks but now is slow and careful. Mine is 88 but looking great. May both our moms live on and on. Great poem, Richard.

Your great question to me. I copied the answer here as well: "Richard, that's easy: Absolutely not! Peter denied Jesus thrice, with curses, "I do not know [jesus] that man." He had to wait for the Resurrection to be SAVED, no one was saved before that, just in a "holding pattern." Jews use SHEOL & Greeks, "HADES." Nothell, Waiting station $Jesus as with LL born b4 Jesus 2K yrs ago. Judas didnt wait 4 the Resurrection & committed suicide. WHY?He's the modern man: taking matters in his own hands

Would that not mean that all people who lived and died before Jesus’s resurrection are doomed?

I read this MOM's poem yesterday; U have lots of visitors & friends. They said it all; I did not want to overdo the sentiments. YOU ARE BOTH SO BLESSED; praise our Saviour, Glory to God. Hosanna.

Oh Richard!!! How sweet of you to mention me here. I'm honored. :) You've added so much to my day. I posted a bday greeting to your lovely Mama on her FB page and in a personal note. She's amazing. After all...she brought you into the world and raised you to be who you are today. This poem is a lovely tribute to her. :) Again...thanks for spreading the cheer! Hugs
