Overflowing With Despair
This scorching heat
arid, bone-dry
like walking barefoot
on a bed of hot embers,
Melting my flesh
Setting my head on fire.
Love is nowhere to be seen,
Hope lost somewhere
in this shifting sands,
No oasis in sight
My only beacon…
A shimmering mirage!
A solitary tear
trickles down my cheek.
Ha, gone are those playful days in the woods
under the shades of towering trees
with bubbling brooks and sprightly streams.
Overwhelmed
I fall on my knees
tears overflowing in rivulets
and soon dissipate in this dry air.
