Out On the Porch Sunday April 10 2011

The cool dampness of the morn wraps its blanket around me inviting me come sit enjoy..The gap in the hedge row calls my name; come into the mist be shrouded and walk into the unknown as the rooster crows constantly stirring the air with their vocals..The sun with its yellow light of illumination ever getting brighter and warmer draws creatures of the sky to fly and sing praises..There is beauty all around on this spring morn. .Silly Mocking Bird said Whip-Poor-Will and for a second he had me totally confused was I getting up or going to sleep..

The whippoorwill, usually heard at nighttime in these parts. A most lonesome sound. Excellent piece.

Beautiful prose poetry, dear Sara. I can really identify with that last line. Also, no need to explain about the 'Rose and the Thorn' and your contest; it is a matter of personal choice. Some love that sonnet and some don't - being a sonnet of all consuming grief. It was written at a time of great personnel lose. Writing how I felt at that time, released me and allowed me to move forward. Writing is such a healing tool . Love, Lainie

You describe so vividly the pleasantry of morning and the wonderful sights and sounds of nature that you can hear from your porch. When that silly mocking bird tries to emulate a nightingale, I'd forget whether I was getting up or going to sleep as well. Great poem, Sara! Love, Carolyn

we don't have no mocking birds here, i don't think and i know that whip-poor-will are just in the south or east coast. this was a beautiful write and reminds me of my grandma and the times i sat on her porch.

This is beautiful, so expressive. I could actually see the porch as if I was sitting there myself and feel the atmosphere even before the end of the first line. Love it xx
