~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A clear spring night. I walk outside glancing up into the sky. The night sky is miraculous, appearing like magic at each sunset, promising to return as she fades in dawn's first light. The sky is timeless, a black tranquility married to a poetry of stars, shining as sugar spilt over black marble—It is the most beautiful art I’ve ever seen, alive with raw energy, a song for my eyes. I feel it vibrating somehow, whispering to me in a way my ears cannot hear. I marvel at how, in the night sky, the curtain is pulled back letting me see out the window called ‘the sky’ to a universe and time beyond the now. The stars and constellations, who’ve witnessed centuries and millennia just the same, are the same ones watching over me during this tiny moment in time—the same ‘once upon a time’ that conjured up all those storytellers, poets, and listeners striking a beginning chord within us, a gathering of souls. I stood in awe, breathless. Like the countless others who’ve preceded me, I’m sitting on a planet in a vast, seemingly timeless universe, spinning around in the middle of absolutely nowhere. The enormity of this realization brings me to my knees.
Gazing up at the nighttime sky are the most amazing sights. Stars glitter like lighthouses, beckoning to be reached out to. The moon radiates her beauty, a fraction of what’s out there. The night sky swirls around the stars and the moon, leaving an air of mystery, of gathering. I want to reach out among the stars and savor all the sights that await. I pause, noting something beautiful, miraculous, timeless, and pure radiates from the universe.
I always love your images. It's is beautiful thing to fellowship with the stars. To watch them gossip about us, they have such beautiful small eyes that see through despite the distance. "black tranquility married to a poetry of stars." Calm and stars are a good pair. Great write dear Sara.
---and then picked up a copy of Scientific American and read all the revised theories of how the Milky Way is running away from us at breakneck speed...
it's no wonder that the Milky Way is running away, given the high cost of chocolate these days. :-)
Each time I gaze into a night sky filled with stars, I can't help but wonder what and who is looking back at me.
Beautiful! I feel as if I am reaching, swirling in all the mystery of the night sky. Can you imagine those that thought the sky a boundary not yet given the tools to see beyond. Blessings!
thank you, Kim, for your visit and for sharing your thoughts about those in the past that thought the sky was a boundary of some sorts, a dome perhaps. Fascinating. Have a blessed day, hugs, Sara
