Oh, Just Once

Many times in my life people say things, and I, well, just swallow my pride and smile; although their words and rudeness really stings, just once I wish- my reply would be fast; oh yeah, I would like to give them a blast. But, people think I am angel with wings, and anger is just not this sweet girl's style. Oh, I wish I could tell those queens and kings, that even an angel knows ripe words vile; but revenge using words comes with big strings, nasty people fill this world- it is vast; so best to leave those bad sorts in my past. Father said, "let them talk while your heart sings!" Oh, but just once!- NO, they are not worthwhile. _____________________________ August 12, 2018 Poetry/Rhyme/Oh, Just Once Copyright Protected, ID 18-1051-523-01 All Rights Reserved. Constance, I share your sentiment on this. I am rather meek and mild. I say that 'I am too light to fight, and too thin to win' because I am slightly built. Well, the fact of the matter is that once, just once, I would like nothing better than to paste a well aimed punch or a kick in vulnerable spots and teach some bully a lesson he would never forget and would turn and run if he saw me coming. I love your 1st place win.

Congrats, D.H., on your 1st-- I think you father is truly a wise man, and a bit of a poet himself it seems!

And what goes around comes around, as they say … or as Emily D. told us, A word is dead when it is dead, some say. I say, it just begins to live that day...Love this one, D.H! Stick with the sweetness! ~ gw

BW.. you could, just once, be like the nasty World and pollute your mind and mouth with garbage. And that “just once” would haunt you with regret. You are a rare and sweet soul.. never wish to be otherwise. Your virtue is so appealing!
