Ode To a Printer

For my outstanding printer, an ode to you (for days, you've spoken not a word. No heaves, or thuds, or reluctant clues you sit silently, and I'm feeling awkward) to my faithful friend, this honor long overdue. Each time I called, you answered cheerfully. Spent hours together, I'd feed, you'd shrug, (but now I gaze on your silence fearfully: I'm terribly afraid you have captured a bug. Please open your eyes, sing offkey again.) I want the world to know, and of course you, I honor you as an exceptional MOST! When things were bad and coming askew you helped me through. Without you, I'm toast! (Please wake up soon, I'm begging you.) February 27, 2023 For Jeff Keyser's "Write an Ode Poetry Contest"

Thanks, Janice! If you can't trust your printer, what CAN you trust! :)

I think they make them to break as soon as the warranty has expired. Love your poem Ann. Congratulations for you well deserved place in Jeff's contest.

This is oh so familiar, I have the loudest printer in the world at work that no longer works but I swear every so often still randomly makes the loudest sound for no reason, hope yours wakes up soon! Congrats Ann!

Ha! That's funny, Hat! It doesn't want you to USE it, but it doesn't want you to LOSE it!

This really gave me a chuckle. Why is it that printers are so cranky!? Congratulations! :)

I don't know, but I think they have a good laugh when we're asleep. :)

Oh the things we take for granted, we haven't used our printer in a long while, and I actually do miss the hum and buzz of the printing, here's hoping yours awakens soon~

As Daniel commented, it sure beats the mimeograph!

Anne, only you could imagine an ode to a printer! So clever and a duplicate of our own experiences at the same time. I should learn not to be surprised by you! suzanne

This was a fun read, Ann. Can you imagine what life was like before printers? Are you that old? They used to do in by hand with a mimeograph machine when I was a kid.
