"Desmond has a barrow in the market place
Molly is the singer in a band
Desmond says to Molly, "Girl, I like your face"
And Molly says this as she takes him by the hand

Ob-la-di ob-la-da life goes on bra
La-la how their life goes on
Ob-la-di ob-la-da life goes on bra
La-la how their life goes on

Desmond takes a trolley to the jeweler's stores
Buys a twenty carat golden ring (Golden ring?)
Takes it back to Molly waiting at the door
And as he gives it to her she begins to sing (Sing)

Ob-la-di ob-la-da life goes on bra
La-la how their life goes on
Ob-la-di ob-la-da life goes on bra
La-la how their life goes on, yeah (No)

In a couple of years they have built
A home sweet home
With a couple of kids running in the yard
Of Desmond and Molly Jones
(Ah ha ha ha ha ha)

Happy ever after in the market place
Desmond lets the children lend a hand (Arm! Leg!)
Molly stays at home and does her pretty face
And in the evening she still sings it with the band

Yes, ob-la-di ob-la-da life goes on bra
La-la how their life goes on (Ha ha ha)
Hey, ob-la-di ob-la-da life goes on bra
La-la how their life goes on

In a couple of years they have built
A home sweet home
With a couple of kids running in the yard
Of Desmond and Molly Jones
(Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha)

Yeah, happy ever after in the market place
Molly lets the children lend a hand (Foot!)
Desmond stays at home and does his pretty face
And in the evening she's a singer with the band

Yeah, ob-la-di ob-la-da life goes on bra
La-la how their life goes on
Yeah, ob-la-di ob-la-da life goes on bra
La-la how their life goes on" - Beatles

My song choice is "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" written by Paul McCartney and produced by the Beatles in 1968. We are not allowed to post links to songs here at Soup, so the lyrics I will post in the notes above along with video of the song, but for the judge to hear the song, she must type it in at Youtube to hear it or risk seeing who wrote this. Sadly, I do not know how to let the judge hear the song in this box. My Add-on: Bridge 2: In two decades more, they have reached their Golden years. At a great big table they are sitting down with grand kids they call dears Final verse: Now they have a little dog they take for walks. Slowing down, they still keep doing things - Staying in their cozy house or gardening. Guitar in hand, at night to Desmond Molly sings Beatles' original Chorus continues until end with Beatle's short ending: "And if you want some fun Take ob-la-di-bla-da Thank you"

Good addition to the song, Andrea. Verse about maturity and the changing years. Occasionally I sing the song. I must add that I think it's about changing roles, where near the end, "Desmond stays home and does his pretty face," while presumably Molly goes off to work. O, how we change in time.

It is so funny . I caught that subtle shift just yesterday looking over their lyrics again. The role reversal. Beatles were ahead of their time!

A fun song. Well done; very witty -- I like your ending. Even reading the words, I still don't understand -- I know, dense. Enjoyed anyway, very catchy melody. Good luck in contest.

I always liked the rhythm in this song but never knew the words. LOL..Reads like a good contender to me. Way to go. Thanks for sharing it with us and you're ending. The ob-la-di-la part I guessed at but the rest of the words I never could figure out. LOL..Sara K

Oh, you never knew the words before? I recalled most of them, but seeing the actual lyrics, i think there were a few little details I had not realized before.
