Dear Wind stood breathless on the reach, To wait the daylight's spark, So beleaguering him and morning, each, They'd chase away the dark ... Well, he'd been waiting long time, now, A spring breeze in his heart, But until Old Sun clamored up the sky, The day was naught to start ... How he longed to break that silence, Set the morning birds to sing, Still without the light he'd whistle, not, Nor allow them take to wing ... The Beautiful Wood with tresses green, Asked if he would soon comply, For unless she felt his breath, unseen, Her hair just would not dry ... The thought of that was fathomless, So without a thread of whine, A curt Dear Wind puffed up and blew, "Hey - Old Sun, it's time to shine!!" Well, up Old Sun came, blinking eyes, And put Sir Night to death, Now Wood and birds and Old Sun, too ... Could savor Dear Wind's breath. ~ 2nd Place ~ in the "Writing Prompt - Ten Words" Poetry Contest, Dear Heart, Judge & Sponsor.

I love the imagery here, Gregory, but my favorite line is 'unless she felt his breath unseen/her hair just would not dry' - I used to live in Arizona, and it was so hot I didn't need a hair dryer! Wonderful poem, I bet it will place high in the contest!
